Benny Lee Mcintyre

Benny Lee "Pete" McIntyre, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 at the age of 78 years old. His funeral will be held at 1:00pm Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church in Kannapolis with Rev. George Morris officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. His family will receive friends from 5:00pm- 7:00pm Saturday, January 29 at Whitley's Funeral Home.
Born May 10th, 1943 in Chesterfield, SC to the late Ben and Gracie McIntyre, he was the oldest of five children. He and his wife, Virginia McIntyre, of 58 years were married on November 3rd, 1962, and grew their family together having three children. Pete worked as a Fixer at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis for 28 years. In his younger years, Pete was a carpenter. He spent time remodeling and building houses and churches. In the mid 70s he was a volunteer fireman for Enochville fire department. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at the lake. Pete really enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren. He said that they were his heartbeat.
He is survived by his three children; Gerryl McIntyre (Shanon), Shelia Bumgarner (Tony), and Christopher McIntyre (Lori); his grandchildren, Weston Lambert, Derick McIntyre (Alisha), Chelsea Martinez (Steve), Shelby Knabbe (Cole), Christina, Cassie, and Haley McIntyre; his great-grandchildren, Kaiden Martinez, Layla McIntyre, and Salem Knabbe; his siblings Ellavee Huffman, Jerry McIntyre, Johnny McIntyre and Jack McIntyre (Dolly). Pete preceded in death by his parents; Ben and Gracie McIntyre; his wife Virginia McIntyre; and his grandson Matthew McIntyre.
