Berl Eudonald Bruce, Sr.

Obituary: Concord, NC- Berl E. Bruce, age 70, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at his home after battling an illness for several years. Berl was born January 23, 1944 in Franklin Springs, Georgia, the son of the late Isaac Eudonald Bruce and Elkansas Royston Bruce. He was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School and married his wife, Robin on April 21, 1976. Berl was employed with Southern Industrial for many years in boiler sales and services. Later, he was continued in the field as self-employed. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam Conflict. His family fondly remembers his love of fishing and enjoying NASCAR racing. His main love was spending quality time with all of his family. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, William Bruce and Dick Bruce. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Dr. Zachary Sizemore. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military honors by the N.C. National Guard and the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 17, 2014 at the funeral home. The family will be at the residence the remainder of the time. Survivors include his wife, Robin Cox Bruce; his children, Odelia Harrel & husband, Scott; Berl E. Bruce II & wife, Jennifer; and Joshua Bruce, all of Concord, NC; Chandra Bruce of Kannapolis, NC; and Loudera Crum & husband, Randy of China Grove, NC; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
