Bess Oxendine, 88, of Kannapolis, went into her heavenly home on Thursday, September 16, 2021.
Bess was born on July 12, 1933 in Pennsylvania to the late Raleigh Lee Holland and Pearl Shook Holland.
Bess spent her childhood in Franklin, NC before moving to Kannapolis. Bess devoted her life to teaching and taught English at A.L. Brown High School for over 30 years. She was an inspiring educator who made a lasting impact on her students. She was also the yearbook editor for numerous years. She was a published author. Her works include

, and a book of poetry. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kannapolis. She loved to travel the United States with her beloved husband, Denford, and enjoyed taking travel photography.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 63 years; Denford Oxendine Sr.; son, Denny Oxendine Jr.; daughter, Laura (Matt) McFaddin; grandchildren, Daniel (Madelyn) McFaddin and Hannah McFaddin; great-grandchild, Alana McFaddin, and sister, Lucy Holland Baker.
Services will remain private at this time.
