Betty Ann “BJ” Laws Jones, 84, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away at home Saturday evening, November 30, 2024.
Born November 23, 1940, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Andrew Laws and Vera Amelia Bost Laws. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Grady Corriher, who had married her widowed mother; her husband, Charles V. Jones, and her son-in-law, Nelson Acosta.
A 1958 graduate of AL Brown, Mrs. Jones started her long teaching career in Horry County, SC, later teaching in Alabama, and finished her career and retired from Kannapolis School System. Following her retirement, she became a Junior Kumon Instructor for Kumon of Concord for 13 years. BJ loved the beach, going out to eat with her girlfriends, loved her church and her Crown Pointe Church family, and enjoyed collecting pens and pencils. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Family members left with many cherished memories include her children, Stephen “Dale” Jones (Terri), Todd Alan Jones (Tomoyo) and Brandi Montea Acosta; granddaughters, Holly Jones Teeter (Matt), Alexis Jones (Joe Brooks) and Tara Jones; and her great grandchildren, Maggie and Oliver Teeter.
The family will receive friends from 11:00AM-1:00 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Crown Pointe Baptist Church. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mrs. Jones’ life will begin at 1:00 PM in the church, conducted by Doug Crawley, Pastor. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
