Obituary: Betty Janet Pearce Baxter, 80 of Concord went to be with the Lord at CHC Northeast Medical Center, Concord following a period of declining health, but death was unexpected. She was born January 22, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama, a daughter of the late Charlie Bryant Pierce and Wilma Lee Cates Hall. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Pearce. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel conducted by Rev. Joe Harding. Betty attended Second Presbyterian Church as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed watching old movies, was an avid Elvis fan, and was a chocolate lover. She retired from customer service in 2004 and became a homemaker. She was known for her ability to sew clothing and her crocheting. Her family enjoyed her telling them her family remembrances from earlier times. She had many friends and family in Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma. Survivors left to cherish her memories are one daughter, Janet "Jan"Lea Baxter of Kannapolis, two sons, William "Billy" Raymond Baxter and wife Lu Ann G. Baxter of China Grove, Jerry O'Neal "J.R." Baxter, Jr. and Cheryl McEarchern Baxter of Concord. Two brothers, Cecil "Dianne" Harris of Mobile, Alabama, Wayne �lissa" Pierce of Birmingham, Alabama, Half-Sister, Lida "Sissy" Pierce of Birmingham. She also leaves her loving canine companion, "Willow". Five grandchildren; Mindy Baxter West of Austin, Tx., Shawn Baxter of Valley Mills, Tx. Marissa Baxter, Cody Baxter and Allyson Baxter of China Grove, four great-grandchildren; Rachel Ballew and Reagan Ballew, and Gavin West all of Austin, Tx. and Jarred Marberry of Valley Mills, Tx. numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
