Betty Jo Chambers

Obituary: Betty Jo Laney Chambers, 89, went to be with our Lord on Monday, June 18, 2018. She was born on April 5, 1929 to the late Dallas and Vista Montgomery Laney in Monroe, NC. She married the late Robert Alton Chambers, on April 4, 1954. He served our community as a Kannapolis Policeman. She worked for Cannon Mills in the Special Order Department, in the Personnel Order Department and as a Cannon Mills tour guide. She is presided in death by brothers and sisters, Rotha Tarlton of Asheboro NC, Evelyn Deese of Taylorsville NC, Junior Cauthen, Lois Hamilton, Roddy Laney, Griggs Laney, and Keith Laney all of Monroe NC. She was an exceptionally good Mother, Mom Mom, and sister to her surviving family members, son-in-law and daughter, Johnny and Robin Myers of Walnut Creek California, granddaughters Lisa Myers of Los Angeles California and Grace Myers of San Francisco CA, second cousin Amy Jo Riggs of Kannapolis NC, with whom she resided, sisters Dorothy Little of Kannapolis NC, Carol Tucker, Donna Eubanks of Monroe NC, Patsy Harper of Myrtle Beach, SC and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to the love and joy she received from her grandchildren, she also enjoyed gardening, canning her fruits and vegetables, her church, housekeeping and spending time with her friends. Bob and Betty were lifelong members of Centergrove Lutheran Church. Pastor Lloyd Ginn of Centergrove will officiate the memorial service at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lake Norman NC, 705 Griffith Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036. Her final days were truly blessed by their care.
