Betty Sue Blackmon Christie, 90, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away Tuesday morning, August 24, 2021, at Transitional Health Services, where she had been a resident.
Born June 8, 1931, in Charlotte, she was a daughter of the late John and Lillian Stinson Blackmon. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her beloved husband, William "Bill" Carlyle Christie, on April 8, 2015; her sister, Juanita Davis; and her brothers, Spurgeon, H.B. and Glenn Blackmon.
Betty spent most of her working years in retail sales, retiring from Belk Budget Fair. She loved her family and time spent with them. Betty also loved gardening, cooking, making wonderful desserts, and was well loved and known for her strawberry pudding, which she always made for "Heavenly Hotdogs" at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. A loving mother, grandmother and friend of many, Betty will be greatly missed by her family, her church family and all who knew and loved her.
Loving family members include her children, William Carlyle Christie, Jr. and wife, Andrea; and Pam Holt and husband, Jim; her grandchildren, Christopher and Sarah Holt and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Christie will begin at 3:00 pm Friday, August 27th, at Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by Reverend Neal Jones, Pastor, Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. The family will speak with friends at the cemetery following the committal service.
