Betty Conner

June 27, 1924 — April 1, 2018

Obituary: DuBois, PA Betty Jean Bowman Conner, age 93, a resident of Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, after a period of declining health. Betty was born June 27, 1924 in Granville OH, the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Mildred Jones Bowman. In addition to her parents Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer F. Conner and her brothers, William and Frank Bowman. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 6, at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC. Betty Conner was a giving and loving person with a great sense of humor. She never thought of herself but looked out for the needs of everyone else. She cleaned, ran errands, shopped, and provided transportation to anyone that asked. Doing laundry was her favorite "hobby". She loved birds, cats, dogs, and almost everyone she met, being quick to tell funny stories to anyone that would listen. She always had an ear to listen and always dealt with tough situations with grace, a great teacher to all for those times when you just have to suck it up and do what needs to be done regardless of what you want to do. Betty held many jobs throughout her life including waitress, retail clerk, a large newspaper delivery route, managing a lunch wagon business, seamstress at several sewing mills, and her last job before retiring, as a Nanny for 7 years. After retirement she continued being active taking care of family members, always keeping busy. We often referred to her as the "Energizer Bunny" because she kept going on and on when everyone else was done. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Gerald (Jerry) R Conner and wife, Barbara and her daughter, Donna Maines-Martin and husband Sam; her grandchildren, David Maines and wife, Bonnie, Laura Kimbell and husband, Jeff and Mark Conner; her great-grandchildren, Kevin, Michael and Timothy Maines, Seth and Kathyrn Kimbell, Grayson and Layne Conner; her sister-in-law, Margie Bowman and loving extended family; Samuel Martin, Samantha Richards (Kevin), BillieJo Abercrombie (Matthew), Jessica Hall and Isaac Martin. Loved by all, Betty will be missed and never forgotten. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com. Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis and Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois are jointly serving the Conner family.
