Betty Jo Gilbert Freeman

Obituary: Concord, NC- Betty Jo Gilbert Freeman, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a short illness. She was born March 13, 1941 in Rowan County, NC, the daughter of the late Rastus Gilbert and Geneva Mae Davis Gilbert. Betty was employed as an office manager for many years at the former Piedmont Block Company which later became Johnson Concrete in Kannapolis, NC. She loved her dog, Cuddles, children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchild. Betty also loved doing crafts and making beaded jewelry. Many will remember her for playing the piano at Corriher Heights Baptist Church in China Grove, NC in earlier times. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her children, Keith McWhorter of Concord, NC; Kimberly McWhorter Bumgarder of Kannapolis, NC; and Karen Denise Barker of Davidson, NC; grandchildren, Adam, Julianna, Kelsey, Kendyl, and Kylie; one great-grandchild, Charlotte; and one sister, Carol Stubbs of Gold Hill, NC.
