Betty Hines Scarborough

Obituary: Betty Hines Scarborough, 86, passed away June 27, 2018 at Concord Place Senior Living. She was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina on April 8th, 1932 to Paul and Pearl Hines. Betty graduated from Landis High School. She held various retail management positions in women's apparel. After retiring, she enjoyed gardening, helping with church projects, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Betty is survived by of her husband of 66 years, Royce Scarborough of Kannapolis; son, Phil (Karen) Scarborough of Atlanta; grandson, Chip Scarborough of Birmingham, Alabama; granddaughter, Kristen (Justin) Thomas of Claxton, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Caroline Thomas; great-grandson John Thomas; brother, Buddy Hines of Mooresville; sister Doris (Ray) Deboe of Concord; brother James (Pam) Hines of China Grove. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Kenneth, JoCarol, Herbert, and Harold. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday, June 29 at Whitley's Funeral Home on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard in Kannapolis. The funeral service will take place 2 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. RJ Hammond, burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Dementia Society of America.
