Obituary: Betty Jean Hollifield, 93, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019, peacefully at her home. She had been in declining health for six months. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be greatly missed for her positive outlook on life. She was born in Troutman, NC, March 12, 1926, to the late Daniel Miller Kerley and Beulah Litton Kerley. Betty graduated from Troutman High, married the late Paul Allen Hollifield on March 6, 1948 and moved to Kannapolis, where she became a wonderful, devoted housewife. Betty was an active member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church, where she assisted in many church activities until her health failed. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, taking care of and loving on her grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Ruby Sherrill and Maxine Kerley. Family members left with cherished memories include her daughter, Paula Jean Hollifield Davis (Rodney) of Carrollton, GA and her son, Randy Joel Hollifield (Cheryl), of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Tyler Hollifield Myers (Jason), of Kannapolis, Garrett Allen Hollifield (Tanya), of Charlotte, Mallory Hollifield Kanos (William) of Huntersville, and Kayley Davis Sanders (Matthew) of Carrollton, GA; her great grandchildren, Ryker Myers, Berkley Myers and Hadley Sanders. A service of worship and celebration of Betty's life will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 10th at Jackson Park UMC, conducted by Rev. Dr. Greg Gordon, Pastor. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Mrs. Hollifield will be laid to rest with her husband at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
