Obituary: Our sweet mother Betty Honbarrier went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 surrounded by her family at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Betty was born on December 23, 1926 in Belmont, NC. She was the daughter of the late John Henry O'Daniel and Anna Wooten O'Daniel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Lloyd Honbarrier in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Vernon, Lambert, Gene and Sandy O'Daniel. Betty was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis and lived her last 2 years in Concord at Morningside Memory Care Unit. Betty's strong faith was a daily walk. Her dedication to the Lord was shown in her love for her family and friends. As a Sunday school teacher for 34 years at Landis Baptist Church, she faithfully prayed for, visited and worked to meet the needs of her church. Betty was known as a prayer warrior and for visiting the shut-ins and those who were hurting. Betty worked in the Washcloth Department at Cannon Mills for 40 years. She had a love of dogs and especially her dog Max. Betty is survived by two sons Harold Honbarrier, Kannapolis, and Ron (Jane) Honbarrier, Rockwell; by her daughter Shirley (Hugh) Jordan, Kannapolis, and by 8 grandchildren; Eric (Dana) Honbarrier, Jessica (Brian) Huffstetler, Joe Honbarrier, John (Laura Lee) Honbarrier, Anne (Todd) Parker, Brad Kerley, Michael Kerley, Regina (Bobby) Hunter. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and her best friend of many years Estelle Wyatt. The family would like to thank the staff at Morningside of Concord, Memory Care unit for their love and compassionate care for Betty. Also a special thank you to the kind nursing staff at Tucker Hospice House for taking such good care of Betty and her family. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Whitley Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Eddie Graham and Tommy Wyatt. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 pm. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park immediately following the service. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
