Betty Lenora Phillips

Betty Lenora Cauthen Phillips, 89, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, February 2, 2025. 

Funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Kannapolis. Visitation will begin at 2:30 PM and run just prior to the funeral at 4:00 PM in the church on Thursday, with Dr. Tom Cabaniss officiating. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum. 

Betty was born on October 13, 1935 in Rowan County. She was a cherished daughter of the late John Cauthen and Pauline Dennis Cauthen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry “Buddy” Phillips; and her brother, John Cauthen.

Betty was graduate of A.L. Brown High School, Kannapolis and Kings Business College, Charlotte. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis and actively involved in her Sunday school class and cherished her church family. Betty loved spending time with friends, often enjoying meals together at her favorite local restaurants, especially with her Four Sisters In Christ. 

She had a special fondness for shopping and her love for fashion was reflected in her impressive collection of shoes. 

Betty adored family trips to Disney and enjoyed classic car cruise-ins with her husband. She worked at UNC – Charlotte as the administrative assistant to the Dean of Architecture for over 20 years. She also loved working at the front desk of Let’s Dance Studio from 2002 to 2020, where she made a positive impact on everyone she met. 

While she will be greatly missed by all who knew her, we find comfort knowing she is now in the presence of Jesus

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Lynn Phillips Russell and her husband, Mark Russell of Kannapolis.
