Obituary: Betty Jo Hughes McCartney, 70, of 115 Westover Ave. died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. Mrs. McCartney was born on October 20, 1939 in Madison Co., GA the daughter of the late Parker Harris Hughes and the late Mary Elise Wilson Hughes. She was all about her family. They meant everything to her especially with her love of camping. She was a homemaker and in earlier years was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Harry J. McCartney of the home, her sons; Steven Douglas Helms & wife, Lorie of Rockwell, Robert Lee Teal of Loris, SC and Tracy Lynn Teal & wife, Yvonne also of Loris and her daughters; Debbie Teal Sellers & husband, Dennis of Kannapolis, Kelly Amanda McCartney of Lawrence, KS and Patricia M, Furtado & husband, Anibal of Fall River, Mass. She has 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCartney is also survived by her sisters; Mrs. Mary Scott & husband, Roy of Locust, NC, Joyce Walden & husband, Ronnie of Concord, NC and by her brothers; L.C. Hughes & wife, JoAnn of Kannapolis and Wayne Hughes & wife, Sandra of Davidson, NC. The funeral service for Mrs. McCartney will be held at 2p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Charlie Littlejohn. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 Thursday before the service. At other time the family will be at the residence.
