Betty Dennis Measmer

Obituary: Betty Jean Dennis Measmer, 85, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Best of Care Nursing Center following a period of declining health. She was born December 16, 1931 in Rowan County, NC a daughter of the late George Franklin and Geneva Gertrude Weaver Dennis. Betty was a member of the Lutheran Faith. Prior to her retirement she was a bookkeeper at Cabarrus Bank, Carl's Radio and TV and Drug Emporium. She loved the beach and was an avid Disney Fan. She was preceded in her husband of 53 years, Harold James Measmer Sr. who preceded her in death, on September 25, 2002. Survivors include her son, Jim Measmer and wife Debbie of Albemarle, a daughter, Kathy M. Drye and husband Vernon of Kannapolis. She is also survived by three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Carolina Memorial Park conducted by Pastor Clark Remsburg. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. prior to the graveside service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
