Obituary: Betty Jean Furr Sherrill Perry, 84, of Kannapolis, went to be with Jesus September 3, 2018 around 8:00 AM at the Tucker Hospice House. Born August 28, 1934, in Cabarrus County, Betty was a daughter of the late Clyde and Fannie Hudson Furr. She was a lifelong area resident and longtime member of St. John's UCC. In early years she worked the cafeteria for Kannapolis City schools and later she worked at Terry Products. In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Sherrill. Betty had been in declining health over the past year. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, however, her family finds comfort knowing that she is in no more pain and is dancing on the streets of gold with their dad while praising Jesus. George, her husband of 17 years whom she loved with all her heart, has been Betty's rock and strong supporter through these tough times. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 5, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Chris King officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to her service. Betty is survived by her 2nd husband, George Perry, her sons; Randy Sherrill of Gastonia and Donnie Sherrill (Barbara) of Stanfield, her daughter, Debbie Stegall of Lexington and her sister, Alice Hagler of Concord. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Joshua, Matt and Lindsey Sherrill and Daniel Stegall (Cindi) and Justin Stegall (Brittany) and 10 great-grandchildren.
