Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Betty Moffitt Phillips, age 73, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 13, 2010 at her home. She was born July 8, 1937 in Burke County, NC, the daughter of the late Charles William Moffitt and Hattie Louise Potter Moffitt. Betty was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Pl.t.#4 #1 Weave Room for twenty years until her retirement due to disability. She was an Elvis Presley fan collecting many items of memorabilia. Betty was also known by some to collect babydolls. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Brotherton. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Crownpointe Baptist Church, 703 Tennessee Street, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Gene Beaver. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Edward Phillips; one son, Clint Edward Phillips of Albemarle, NC; two brothers, Ronald Roscoe Moffitt of Drexel, NC and Charles William Moffitt, Jr. of Kannapolis, NC; and one sister, Mary E. Brown of Landis, NC. Memorials may be made to Crownpointe Baptist Church, 703 Tennessee Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083 to help pay for funeral expenses.
