Obituary: Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Coley Smith, 86, of Concord went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health. Betty was born June 2, 1930 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Willie and Annie Coley. In early life she was employed by Cannon Mills. She later worked at the Starlight Drive-In, the Willis Drive-In and Cinema Theatre. She also took in laundry and was a babysitter. Betty was a member of Evangel Worship Center of Concord. She enjoyed making floral arrangements as a hobby. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M.-1:00 P.M. prior to the service. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn McClellen and a sister, Phylis Ray. Survivors include her husband of seven years, Garren D. Smith, one son, Rickey McClellen of the home, one daughter, Glenda Sides of Kannapolis, one stepson, Garren Clark Smith of Salisbury, three grandchildren; Mark Ellis McClellen , Amy Stanley, and Matthew Duty, one step grandson, Matthew Smith, four great- great grandchildren, Luke McClellen, Anna Davis, Holland Stanley and Noel Stanley.
