Betty " Marlene " (Greene) Taylor

Betty ”Marlene” Greene Taylor, 85, formerly of China Grove, peacefully passed away Thursday afternoon, August 10, 2023, at Trinity Oaks, where she had been a resident.

Born April 5, 1938, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Howard and Carrie Austin Greene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer “Buddy” Taylor, and sisters, Linda Dillard and Pat Connell.

Mrs. Taylor was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed time spent with them. Although in a much better place today, she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Family members left to cherish her memory include her children, Ken Taylor (Jeri), Robbin Ross (Dave) and Melissa Hoffner (Randy); her brother, Richard Greene; sisters, Tammy Martin (Mitch) and Phyllis Steinaur (Bill); her grandchildren, Josh Taylor (Sandy), Brandi Patrias (Alan), Daniel Ross (Katie), Zachary Taylor (Jessica), Grant Hoffner and Miranda Hoffner; 9 great grandchildren and extended family members.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 13th from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Reverend Jarrod Lanning.  Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, where Mrs. Taylor will be laid to rest with her husband.
