Obituary: Betty Louise Kirks Thomas, 67, of Kannapolis, died Sunday, February 05, 2012, at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health. She was born October 4, 1944, in Henry County, Va. a daughter of the late Billy Dempsey Kirks, Sr. and Olee Bost Kirks. Prior to becoming disabled, she was employed with Cannon Mills. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. Betty was a faithfull choir member at Bethlehem Baptist Church prior to her illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Michael Waters. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Bob and Gail Harvey, 811 Woodmoore Lane, Kannapolis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby R. Thomas, who died July 9, 2006, and a sister, Rosemary Kirks. Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Chris) Hedrick Owings of Kannapolis and Laura (Robert) Oakley of Salisbury, a son, Charles (Christine) Hedrick of Rock Hill, two brothers, Daniel and Billy Kirks and a sister Bernice Will all of Concord, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
