Obituary: Concord- Betty Jean Wright Walker, 74, entered into Christ's rest on Monday morning, January 15, 2018, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Born November 18, 1943 in Washington, DC, Betty was a daughter of the late Horace and Ruth Francis Merricks Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin W. Walker, on August 25, 2011. Betty passionately loved her family, friends and community. Her love of people and cooking created many great memories for those who knew her, both at her table and in the homes' of others. It gave her great joy to serve the church for over 34 years, offering her creativity in the creation of banners and the design of worship services, homecomings, bulletins and much, much more. Betty brought pizzazz and adventure to everything she did! Loving family members include her son, Horace W. "Duke" Walker; daughter, Marti Walker Fagan and husband, Jakie; her granddaughter, Milli Jean Fagan; brother, Gen. Larry Wright (Gretchen) and her sister, Shirley Winter. To celebrate and remember the life of Mrs. Walker, a memorial celebration service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 3rd, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 4151 Odell School Rd., Concord, NC 28027, conducted by Rev. Dr. William T. "Bill" Jeffries, Rev. B. Fallon Melvin, Jr. and Rev. Dr. H.W. "Duke" Walker. The family will speak to friends following the services at the church.
