Betty Jo (Power) Troutman

Betty Jo Power Troutman, 95, of Venice, FL and formerly of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Jo was born on September 19, 1927 in Cabarrus County, NC to the late Charlie Power and Ethel Cooper Power. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved companion of 40 years, Denver Graybeal; sisters, Frances Collins, Elizabeth Watkins, and Micky Watts; and brothers, David Power and JD Power.

Jo spent her career at Cannon Mills Plant #1 and worked for IBM after retirement. She was very artistic and had a talent for refurbishing and decorating Carousel horses. She enjoyed listening to Gospel music and loved going with Denver to Dollywood every Fall for the gospel music concerts. She was always kind, caring, and compassionate and dearly loved her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Vicki Young (Kerry); son, Robert “Bob” Troutman (Susan); sister, Virginia Shuping; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Morgan officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
