Beverly Cress Burton

Obituary: Beverly Ann Cress Walters Burton, 50, of Kannapolis, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Death was unexpected. She was born October 6, 1962 in Cabarrus County, NC, daughter of MH Ferguson of Gold Hill and Shelby Jean Brown Cutherberton of Harrisburg. Beverly was a member of First Baptist Church of Enochville, She was named Homecoming Queen of Northwest Cabarrus High School when she was a freshman and was named NC's Champion Clogger in 1975. Prior to becoming disabled she was employed at Cannon Mills Plt. #1, winding dept. and later was a cook at Darrell's Restaurant in Rockwell. She loved to collect figurines and work in her flower bed. She also was a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Concord. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 7, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Lewis Whittington. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.in China Grove. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. At other times they will be at the residence of her mother, Shelby Cuthberton of Harrisburg. She is survived by two sons, Zaceria and Joshua Walter, both of Concord, one sister, Debra Cress Evans (Greg) of Pelham, NC, brother, Gerald Wayne Cress(Dana) of China Grove, one grandson, three nephews and three nieces. A brother, Albert Lee Cress preceded her in death.
