Billie Jo (Mullis) Edgison

Billie Jo “Peggy” Mullis Edgison, 88, of Kannapolis died March 2 at Five Oaks Manor after a period of declining health.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, March 4 at Whitley’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home the hour prior to the funeral, from 11:00 to 12:00 PM Thursday.

Peggy was born October 9, 1932, in Rowan Co., a daughter of the late Chatam Johnson Mullis and Virgie Haney Mullis. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Earl “Charlie” Edgison and her 2 sisters; Elsie Crainshaw and Johnsie Bridges.

Peggy was a lifelong area resident and a member of the last graduating class at Cannon High School in 1951. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active in the children’s department and other mission works. Peggy was a longtime employee of Terry Products in Kannapolis where she worked as a wrapper for 33 years, retiring in 1996. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Peggy enjoyed arts and crafts, attending senior’s activities at her church and traveling. Peggy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Those who remain to cherish her memories include her son Dennis Earl Edgison (Julie) and her daughter Cheryl Edgison Keene (John), all of Kannapolis, her grandchildren, Jason Edgison of Concord and Paul Edgison of Kannapolis, Lesley Keene Correll (Earl) of Houston TX and Amanda Keene of Mt. Pleasant, her great-granddaughters, Kennerley, Charley Rose and Mary Keene Correll and her brothers, Parks Mullis of Mooresville and Wayne Mullis of Salisbury.
