Billie Jean (Hearn) Brooks

Billie Jean Hearn Brooks, 89, of Kannapolis, went into her heavenly home on Friday, April 17, 2020.

She was born on April 18, 1930 in West Palm Beach, FL to the late William Paul Hearn and Nina Pauline McMillan Hearn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Shelton Brooks in 2016, and three sisters, Shirley Gardner, Adele Lueders, and Jacqueline Smith.

After her husband’s Navy career, the family settled in the Enochville community and were members of First Baptist Church of Enochville. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family felt that she truly exemplified what it means to be a Proverbs 31 woman.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Elizabeth Ann Brooks Craven and husband Robert of Ehrhardt, SC, and Becky Sue Brooks Cobert and husband Tim of Concord; son, James “Keith” Brooks and wife Deb of Edisto Island, SC; four grandchildren, Lisa Marie Craven Angle, James Aaron Craven, Steven Gregory Cobert, Alexander Hearn Cobert and four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Victoria, and Michaela Angle, and Christopher Craven.

A private graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with Rev. Louis Whittington officiating. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Billie’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church of Enochville or Meals on Wheels of Rowan, Inc.
