Billie Doris Johnston

Obituary: Billie Doris Bass Johnston, 81, of Kannapolis passed away on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at Transitional Health Services. She was born September 21, 1931 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Wade E. and Vera Archer Bass. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira C. (Pete) Johnston Sr. in 2009 , her brother, J.W. Bass and her sister, Betty Simpson. She had formerly worked at Isabel's in Kannapolis for 17 years. She was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church where she had been active in the G.A.'s, Bible School and former secretary of the Adult 3 Class. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at North Kannapolis Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Chris O'Guin. Inurnment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the committal service. She is survived by four children; Terry Johnston of Charlotte, Ira C. (Pete) Johnston, Jr. and wife Robin of Savannah, Ga., Tony Johnston and wife Barbara of Concord and Sandy Briggs and husband Bill of Asheville, eight grandchildren: Meredith, Sam, Jessica, Graham, Stewart, Taylor, Lindsay, and Adam, six great-grandchildren: Richie, Raegan, Delano, Tony, Izzy and Addy. Memorials may be made to North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust St., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Visitation: 1:30 to 2:30 Tuesday prior at church

Service: 2:30 P.M. Tuesday October 23, 2012 North Kannapolis Baptist Church
