Obituary: Billie Wilma Hudspeth Thomason, of Davidson, formerly of Kannapolis died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at her residence at The Pines after a brief period of illness. Her funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 3 at First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis with Rev. Darryl Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. Her family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral. Billie was born December 3, 1911 in Rutherfordton Co. NC, a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Pearl Wilson Hudspeth. She moved to this area in 1933 and lived here until 1997 when she moved to the Pines at Davidson. Billie graduated from Wingate College and NC State. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church. Billie was active in her church, the Red Cross, the American Legion Post 115 Auxiliary as well as many local clubs in Kannapolis. She was a devoted homemaker for her family and a loving mother, grandmother great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Billie was considered by many to be a pillar of the community. In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Max D. Thomason, Sr., her sister, Peggy H. Powell and her brothers, Woodrow, Robert and Paul Hudspeth, an infant son and a grandson, Geoffrey Sanders. Billie is survived by her daughters; Billie Max Reid of Myrtle Beach, Claudine Kay Sanders (Peter) of Atlanta, Sallie Ridgway of Westover MD and her son, Max D. Thomason, Jr. (Nancy) of Charlotte. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and her sister, Gladess Crisp of Chapel Hill and many nieces and nephews.
