Billy Ray Bowles, 90 of Charlotte, formerly of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville following a short illness.

He was born December 25, 1929 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Charlie Ray Bowles and Eula Mae York Bowles.

He Was a 1946 graduate of Cannon High School where he was very active in sports. He later was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds where he was a catcher.

Billy was a Veteran of the US Army serving in Korea where he received the Bronze Star.

Following his discharge he was a service manager for Shanklan HVAC Company in Charlotte, he later worked for Robertson Company and then was owner/operator of Signs Designed, LLC until his retirement.

A Service of Celebrate his life will be held at a later date when it is safe for the public to gather.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Linda Rushing Bowles of the home, two sons, David Ray Bowles and wife Vickie of Pinehurst and Michael Scott Bowles and wife Kathy of Mint Hill. He is also survived by a brother, Bob Bowles and wife Barbara of Kannapolis., two favorite Brothers and Sisters in law; Roy Rushing and wife Jean and Don Rushing and wife Melynda along with eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He also leaves his three canine companions, Sophie, Bear and Kodi.
