Billy B. Cline

Obituary: Billy Boyden Cline 96, of China Grove, NC died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Brian Center in Concord following a period of declining health. Mr. Cline was born in Rowan County, NC on April 11, 1916 a son of the late Edward Monroe Alexander Cline and Sarah Georgean Phillips Cline. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister. Mr. Cline was retired from Cannon Mills as a loom fixer and later worked for Wackenhut Security as a security guard and Whitley's car wash. He was a member of Genesis Baptist Church and was a former member of the Joyful Sounds Quartet. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home. Mr. Cline is survived by his wife, Mary Harrell Cline with whom he celebrated 76 years of marriage in April. He is also survived by two sons; David B. Cline and wife Carol, and Jerry R. Cline Sr. and wife Linda both of Kannapolis, a daughter; Sarah C. Scercy of Kannapolis, five grandchildren; Cathy Dugas, Charles Scercy Jr., Melanie D. Ludwick, David W. Cline, and Jerry R. Cline Jr., four great grandchildren; Dean Cornett, Christopher L. Ludwick, and Ezra and Jacqueline Cline.
