Obituary: Billy D. Cochran, 84, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Northeast Medical Center, Concord. He had been in declining health but death was unexpected. Billy was born September 15, 1929 in Jackson County, Ga., a son of the late Benjamin Frank Cochran and the late Ethel Cordia Self Cochran. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Billy (Scott) Cochran. He was an active member of Landis Baptist Church and was employed as a fixer in the shearing room of Plt. #1, Cannon Mills retiring with over forty years of service. He was an avid woodworker, gardener,and loved to fish and camp. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Landis Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ritchie Honeycutt. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:30 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Survivors include his wife of 64 years; Betty C. Cochran of the home, two sons, Danny Cochran (Gina) of Kannapolis and Randy Cochran (Lynn) of Kernersville, one brother, Chandos Cochran of Kannapolis, five grandchildren; Angela Randolph (Erik), Jeff Cochran, Shawn Cochran (Natalie), Amber Cochran and Joshua Cochran, and six great grandchildren; Chase Adkins, Irie Adkins, Shawn Greene, Kobe Randolph, Emilyn Cochran and Jackson Cochran.
