April 23, 1927 — February 20, 2014

Obituary: Billy Ray Elwood, 86 of Davidson went to be with his Lord on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health. Mr. Elwood was born on April 23, 1927 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Thomas A. and Minnie Hough Elwood. Mr. Elwood served in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of DAV Chapter 27, and the American Legion. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and a member of the former United Methodist Men's club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with friends. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services for Mr. Elwood will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlie Gibbons and Rev. Dwayne Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM Thursday at the church prior to the services. He is survived by his wife, Louise Overcash Elwood of the home, daughters; Libby Elwood Dutch, and Pamela Elwood Hartsell both of Davidson, sons; Elbert Elwood (Brenda), and Delbert Elwood (Amy both of Concord, brothers; Claude Elwood (Tina) of Kannapolis, and Ira Elwood of Mt. Pleasant, sisters; Margie Helms (Roy) of Oakboro, and Irene Lowder of Landis, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081
Visitation: 1:30-3:00 PM, Thursday February 20, 2014 before the service.

Service: 3:00 PM, Thursday February 20, 2014 Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Interment: Church Cemetery
