Billy A. Ervin

Obituary: Billy "Bill" Al Ervin, 84, of Kannapolis passed away on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012. He was born August 3, 1928 in Rowan County, the son of the late Charles P. and Annie Parker Ervin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadain Ostwalt Ervin in 2009, whom he married in 1960. Bill was retired owner of Piedmont Cleaners that he owned and operated from 1971-2004. He was a member of Jackson Park Baptist Church where he was a deacon emeritus. He was active at Gospel Lighthouse Church as an honorary member where his son, Joel pastors. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. He loved to garden. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Jackson Park Baptist Church officiated by Rev. James Pauley. Private Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at church prior from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. He is survived by his son, Dr. Joel Ervin and wife Jeannie of China Grove, two grandchildren, Justin Andrew Ervin and wife Samantha, Lauren Ashley Ervin Fields and husband Brett, two great-grandchildren, Miley Grace Ervin and Ally Marie Ervin, and his sister, Frances White of Kannapolis. Memorials may be made in his honor to Gospel Lighthouse Church, 453 Concordia Church Road, China Grove, NC 28023 and/or Jackson Park Baptist Church 1005 Jackson St., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
