Obituary: Landis, NC- Billy Ray Lambert, age 84, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after declining health for over the past two years. He was born February 10, 1932 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Jay Will Lambert and Madie Pethel Lambert. Billy was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, #1 Cloth Room and later in the Fabric Print Dept. when he retired after a career of forty-eight years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is remembered as a man who spent much quality time with his family over the years. He also enjoyed going to the coast to swim in the ocean and watch NASCAR races on TV as special pastimes. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Norma Lee Beaver; and a daughter-in-law, Myra Brock Lambert. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Highest Praise Family Worship Center, China Grove, NC officiated by Pastor Wayne Miller. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military rites by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years; Mary Burris Lambert; his children, Kathy Darnell Lambert; Connie Denise Lambert; Neddie R. Lambert; Mark Lambert; and Tangie Safrit (Ronnie); four grandchildren, Jesse, Stephen, Miranda, and Chris; and two sisters, Barbara Menius and Wanda Harbison.
