Obituary: Billy Joe McManus, age 56, of Kannapolis died Friday, August 8, 2014 after a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16. A memorial graveside service will be held at Union Hill Baptist Church, Pageland SC at a later date. Billy Joe was born February 3, 1958 in Chesterfield Co. SC, a son of the late Robert McManus and Mary Hudson McManus Cooper of Kannapolis. He worked for Granite Construction Co. and was a member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Christina Smith Poe-McManus and daughter, Misty Dawn McDaniel, both of the family home and Jennie Ann Dupoy of Rushville IL. He is also survived by 3 step-sons; Donald Lowell Poe III of Athens WV, Reginald Eugene Poe of Bastian VA, Steven Brian Poe of Las Vegas NV and 6 grandchildren, William Revenge Dupoy, Braxton Kell Poe, Kennedy Paige Poe, Devin Richard Poe, Samantha Frances Poe and Eric Aiden Poe. He is also survived by 3 brothers; Shine Hudson, Mickey McManus, Donnie McManus, 2 sisters; Theresa Thrift and Jeannie Scheu, special niece, Ladaya Stokes as well as many other loving relatives.
