Obituary: Billy Gene Mitchell, 54, of Statesville died Sunday Nov. 29, 2009 at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born August 4, 1955 in Rockingham County, the son of the late John Wesley Mitchell and Sadie Belcher Mitchell of Eden, NC. He was self-employed with Dover Road Diesel and Tire Service. He loved ridng motocycles and racing lawn mowers. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel , Kannapolis officiated by Rev. Wade Easom. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Whitley's. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son Billy Barnes of Kannapolis, his daughter Jody Holshouser of Salisbury, 10 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild, and two brothers James and Tommy Mitchell both of Eden.
