Obituary: China Grove, NC- Billy Ray (Bill) Stowe, age 83, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a brief illness. He was born February 10, 1932 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Daniel Boone Stowe and Lula Fortner Stowe. Bill was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Bleachery Dept. for over forty years until his retirement. He attended Clermont Freewill Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. His family fondly remembers his love of visiting sick people, having many, many friends, and really enjoying eating out at his favorite restaurants including Golden Corral and Jimmy's Restaurant. He also was a dedicated "Andy Griffith Show" fan wanting to always get home to watch episodes. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Gerald Sue Driver Stowe on January 4, 2008; and two brothers, Tommy Eugene Stowe and James Wilson Stowe. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Leon Simmons. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his step-children, Deborah Miller Lomax (Spencer) of Statesville, NC; Terry Keith Miller of China Grove, NC; two nephews, Reece S. Stowe (Darlene) and James Ray Stowe, both of Kannapolis, NC; a number of great-nieces & nephews.
