Billy Osburn Upright

Billy Osburn Upright, 78, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 7, 2024. He was born July 23, 1946, in Iredell County, son of the late Henry Upright and Carrie Helms. He was preceded in death by brothers, William Upright, Clyde Upright, James Upright and sisters, Lottie Mae Harrold and Annie Fox. 

Billy was retired from Joe Ervin Grading. In his spare-time he enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, his favorite driver being Denny Hamlin, and loved fishing and hunting with his grandson Jeremy. He also enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren whom he loved so dearly.  

Billy was a wonderful Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather. His survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Brenda Cantrell Upright of 41 years; his daughter Tammy Bailey (Daniel); two brothers, Curtis Upright and Ernest Upright; two sisters, Myrtle U Keller and Leona Sowers; his grandchildren, Patrick Helms (Rebekah), Justin Upright and Jeremy Parker (Alison) and 5 great grandchildren. 

 The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18th, from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Reverend Dennis Craft. Burial will follow the services at West Lawn Memorial Park.
