Billy Joe Wilkes

Billy "Joe" Wilkes, age 83, of Mt Ulla, NC, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on June 18, 2024.
Joe was born on September 24, 1940, in Chesterfield, South Carolina, to Woodrow Wilkes and Julia Hodge Wilkes. He was a veteran of the Army and served in Germany from 1960 to 1963, making many friends and memories through his experiences.
Joe was a meticulous person who loved his cars, his motorcycles, his yard, his home, his family, and his friends. He was an incredibly loving person who was treasured by his wife, daughter, and granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Pethel Wilkes; daughter Skylia Wilkes Solomon; granddaughter Sarah Solomon; and sisters Judith Anne Burkes and Julia Shanne Misenheimer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Billy Dean Wilkes, and his siblings William Tyrone Wilkes, Larry Wilkes, and Tamara Knutson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 21, 2024, at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis with Pastor Mark Murphy officiating, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service at Whitley's Funeral Home.
