Obituary: Bishop James Hubert Hamblin, 88, of Salisbury died Oct. 31, 2011 at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born February 20, 1923 in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Hezekiah Dutch Hamblin and Edna Stout Hamblin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Lucinda Hamblin, his son Philip Wayne Hamblin and an infant daughter Karen Hamblin. He was an ordained Bishop with the Church of God since 1955. He began his pastoral ministry at Mebane Church of God and then pastored eight more churches in North Carolina before retiring from Hope Mills Church of God. He is a member of Living Water Church of God in Kannapolis. He was a decorated veteran of the US Army serving during WW II. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at Living Water Church of God officiated by Rev. Wade Easom. Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM Saturday at Oakdale Cemetery in Mt. Airy. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the church. He is survived by 3 daughters: Paula Baucom (John) of Matthews, Carol Curlee (Barry) of Brevard and Mitzi Hamblin of Charlotte, his two sons: Joseph Hamblin (Shelley) of Nashville, Tn. and James H. Hamblin Jr. (Tina) of Marshville, his brother Willis Hamblin of Sanford, Fl., his three sisters: Irene Riechert and Frankie Davis both of Russellville, Al. and Bonnie Lynch of Fairfield, Ohio, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.Memorials may be made to Living Water Church of God % Outreach program, 162 N.
