B.J. Dysart

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC - Beaulo Dysart, Jr., formerly of Columbus, OH, died October 8, 2014. BJ was born February 18, 1927, the son of Beaulo Dysart, Sr. and Eldaree Owens Dysart. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ruth Misuriello Dysart, son, Mark J. Dysart of CT, and brother Bobby. He is survived by children Paul (Kathy) Dysart, Jo Anne Dysart Elkins, Joel (Ann) Dysart, Logan (Becky) Dysart and daughter-in-law Donna Clarke Dysart; grandchildren Danielle (Josh) Ginther, Derek Dysart, Devin Dysart, Kimberly (Mike) Hodgkins, Tim (Pam) Dysart, Heather (Josh) Sharp, Lydia Dysart, Benjamin Dysart; great grandchildren, Grayson and Skylar Ginther, Jonathon and Rowan Hodgkins, and Andrew Dysart; siblings, Helen Rieks, Mattie Lackey, Hazel Appling, William Dysart and Donald Dysart. BJ, a WWII veteran, retired as a TSgt. in 1966 after serving over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Capital University in Columbus as head of Security and AFROTC and volunteered as a Deputy Auxiliary Sheriff for Franklin County. The Blizzard of '78 convinced BJ that he had seen enough snow and he and Ruth relocated to the Charlotte area where he worked as a salesman for Benson's Old Home Kitchen. As an avid car buff, BJ spent his retirement years restoring his favorite Checker automobiles. He also enjoyed Gospel music, both singing with a group and attending concerts. He and Ruth were long-time members of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church where both taught Sunday School. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Scott Swix. Military honors will be given at the end of the service by the U.S. Air Force. Burial will be on Tuesday at the National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, 101 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081. On-line condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
