Blanche Herman Donahue, 96, of Kannapolis died peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

A private graveside service will be held.

Blanche was born January 21, 1925 in Alexander Co., a daughter of the late Ray and Maebelle Pennell. As a young adult she moved to this area to work in the mill. She worked for Cannon Mills in the sewing room for many years until she retired. She was a faithful lifetime member of Lakewood Baptist Church. Her family was her life. Blanche was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister. She was a shining example to everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, J.D. Donahue, her grandson Carl Donahue and 5 of her siblings.

She is survived by her son, Gary Donahue (Maxine) of Concord, her daughters, Janet Donahue of Kannapolis and Susan Sheets (Gary) of Mooresville, 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren. Blanche was also survived by her sister, Lorene Barnes of Taylorsville and her special cousin and caregiver, Shelby Anderson of Kannapolis.
