Obituary: Phothy "Poe" Chanthaheuang, 39 and his son, Blu Joi Chanthaheuang, 15, died unexpectedly together while fishing on High Rock Lake on Saturday, April 17, 2010. "Poe" was born on February 6, 1971 in Savannakhet, Laos, the son of Savathdy Chanthaheuang and Tue Chanthaheuang. He was an electrician with J.R. Ritchie Electric. His 15 year old son, Blu Joi Chanthaheuang, was born on November 14, 1994 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late "Poe" Chanthaheuang and Laura Eury Chanthaheuang. Blu was a home school student and was a true helper to all his family but so very much to his grandmother, Sue Byrd Eury. In addition to his parents, "Poe" is survived by his wife, Laura Eury Chanthaheuang of the home. A son, Vien Chanthaheuang of the home, a daughter, Khettie Chanthaheuang also of the home. 3 brothers; Kithang, Pait and Bounneth Chanthaheuang all of Landis and a sister; Mo Silavong of Concord. He is also survived by 3 nephews; Eddie & Peter Silavong and Caleb Chanthaheuang and a niece Layla Chanthaheuang. Blu is survived by his mom, Laura Eury Chanthaheuang, his brother Vien and sister, Khettie, his paternal grandparents; Savathdy and Tue Chanthaheuang of Landis and his maternal grandmother; Sue Byrd Eury of Albemarle. Also by his uncle; Scott Eury of Kannapolis and 2 aunts; Missy Eury of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Sally Eury Tomasek of Texas. Blu is also survived by a very special friend and cousin; Michael Eury of Concord. Blu is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Marvin L. Eury. A Memorial Service for "Poe" and Blu will take place at 7 P.M., Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Ed Hall. The family will receive friends after the Memorial Service at the Funeral Home.
