Obituary: Mr. Bobbie Lee Blackwelder, Sr, 72 died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born August 27, 1939 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Howard Lee and Pearl Marie KluttzBlackwelder. Mr. Blackwelder was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran serving with the US Air Force. In earlier years he had worked with Fleet Fixer and later retired as a self employed long haul truck driver. He was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Blackwelder of the Home, a son, Bobbie Lee Blackwelder, Jr. of Salisbury, a daughter, Teresa (Jimmy) Brown of Kannapolis, a sister, Shelby (Lee) Stallings of Kannapolis, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
