Obituary: China Grove, NC - Bobby Glen Garver, a resident of the China Grove area, died Monday, January 29, 2018, after complications following a stroke. Born June 23, 1932, in Rowan County, NC, to Lon Allison Garver and Nannie Katherine (Litaker) Garver, Bobby enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. After serving his country for twenty years as a baker, Mr. Garver retired and returned to China Grove, NC, where he enjoyed country living and gardening, grilling ribs, and genealogy. Baptized at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, China Grove, NC, Mr. Garver was a member of First Reformed Church, Landis, NC. He loved his church family and friends at Mt.Zion United Church of Christ in China Grove, NC, too. Mr. Garver is survived by his three children: Jan G. Gapper of Waxhaw, NC; Nancy G. Corriher, and son-in-law, Randy K. Corriher, of China Grove, NC; and David K. Garver, and daughter-in-law, Santha Montee-Garver of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren: Michael Hesterberg and granddaughter-in-law, Yvonne Shay, of Boston, MA; and Lauren Bouknight and grandson-in-law, Brannon Bouknight, of Salisbury, NC; grandchild: Kaia Grace Garver of Charlotte, NC, and great grandchild: Gavin Kirk Bouknight of Salisbury, NC; and his much loved nephews and nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom brought him great joy. His memorial service will be held at First Reform Church of Landis on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. service.
