Bobby David Hurst

Obituary: - Bobby David Hurst, age 75, went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 28, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after an illness of 1 ½ years. He was born November 26, 1937 in Chesterfield County, SC, the son of the late Charlton W. Hurst and Clara Sellers Hurst. Bobby was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company having worked at Plants One, Four, and Six. He had also driven for several trucking companies over the years after leaving the mill. He was an active member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC and was one of the first faces you would see at the church who always said "Hello" to everyone. He had taught Sunday school and served as a deacon over the years. Bobby was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His family viewed him as a wonderful grandfather that adorned his grandchildren and would do anything to help anyone. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Emma Jean Holloway. The funeral service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Franklin Heights Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Jim Grigg. Burial will be at 12:00 P.M. Friday, November 1, 2013 at the National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Thursday prior to the service at the church. The family will be at the residence the remainder of the time. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Peggy Deese Hurst; two daughters, Annette Barringer (Tim) of Landis, NC and Stephanie Deal (Gary) of Kannapolis, NC; four grandchildren, Nicole and Heath Barringer and Taylor and Casey Deal; one sister, Loretta Green, of Kannapolis, NC; and many adopted grandchildren through his grandchildren over the years.
