Obituary: Bobby Hurst Johns, 78, of 2865 Mt. Hope Church Road died on April 28, 2012 at Brunswick Novant Medical Center in Bolivia, NC. Death was unexpected. Mr. Johns was born on December 12, 1933 in Chesterfield, SC, the son of the late Carl Johns, Sr. and the late Idelle Hurst Johns. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Johns and a brother, Carl Johns, Jr. Bobby was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force with the Strategic Air Command. He was a graduate of Landis High School, continued his education at Evans Business College in Charlotte and was a member of the V.F.W., American Veterans # 845 and previously worked for the former Cannon Mills and retired from Celanese. Bobby attended Bethel Wesleyan Church where he loved "The Men's Club" at Bethel. The Service for Mr. Johns will take place at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 3rd at Bethel Wesleyan Church conducted by Rev. Joe Harding, Rev. Steve Dagenhart and Rev. Scottie Gulledge. The body will lie in state 30 min. before the service. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park with graveside military rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 2nd from 6-8:00 p.m. Survivors include his wife; Maxine Carter Johns of the home, a daughter, Roxanne Hunter (Richard) of Concord, grandchildren; Alan Hunter of Concord and Tara Hunter of Charlotte and two aunts; Elese Davis and Doris Hurst.
