Obituary: Bobby Ray Key, Sr., 65, of 810 Desoto Ave., Kannapolis passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. He was born January 25, 1945 in Wilkes County, the son of the late William Floyd Key and the late Mary Jane Roberts Key. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Oliver and a brother, Jerry Lee Key. He had worked at Cannon Mills Co. Plant 1 # 1 Weave Room for 40 years. He later worked for Cabarrus County schools system at Concord High School in the Maintenance Dept. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he had been active in the Men's fellowship, the Senior's group, Assistant Sunday school teacher, an ordained deacon and he helped with the Food Pantry. He also loved fishing and hunting. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Steve Sexton and Rev. Rick Adams. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Friday at Whitley's. At other times, they will be at a brother's home, William "Homer" Key, 121 Crescent Street, Kannapolis. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Helms Key, two sons: Bobby Ray Key Jr.(Lori) of Mooresville and Michael Key (Jamie) of Kannapolis, 3 grandchildren: Jessica, Kristi and Hailey, a step-son William Randall Miller (Julie) of Salisbury, two step-daughters: Sherry Miller Harris (Rodney) of Kannapolis and Kimberly M. Golden of Kannapolis, 9 step-grandchildren: April (Wayne), Jennifer, Taylor, Ciera Faith, Savannah Lee, Jake, Michael, Jason and Jessica, four step-greatgrandchildren, five brothers: Oliver Eugene Key of Millers Creek, Paul Key of Kannapolis, Jay Key of Landis, William Homer Key of Kannapolis and Gary Thomas Key of Landis, four sisters: Mary Elizabeth Hart of Lincolnton, Martha Jane Brewer of Wilkesboro, Artie Belle Wyatt of Millers Creek and Betty Sue Thomas of Landis. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, % Building Fund, P.O. Box 656, Kannapolis, NC 28082.

Service: 2:00 PM Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park
