Obituary: Bobby Dewitt Poss, 84 of Concord passed away at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Bobby was born on May 21, 1934 in Lincolnton, GA, a son of the late Talmadge Poss and the late Ola Holsomback Poss. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Deanna Poss, three brothers; Eugene Poss, Thomas Poss and Johnny Poss and two sisters; Grace Paschall and Joann Bradford. Mr. Poss was a Korean War veteran serving first with the U.S. Air Force and later with the US Navy. He had worked for many years with S & D Coffee and was a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Kannapolis. He is survived by his wife, Opal O. Poss of the home, a daughter, Balinda Deev, three grandchildren; Kevin Whitley, Keisha Koenig and Karla King (Johnathan), four great-grandchildren and a sister, Nancy Phillips. The funeral service for Mr. Poss will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 22nd at First Wesleyan Church conducted by Rev. Scott Wheeler, Rev. Wayne Preusz and Rev. Edwin Chriscoe. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard and the US Airforce. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 before the service.
