Obituary: Mr. Bobby Gene Wagoner, 68, of Kannapolis was called home by his Lord and Saviour on February 16, 2011 after a period of declining health of one year. Death was unexpected. He was born on July 31, 1942 in Cabarrus County the son of the late Wiley Gaither Wagoner and the late Catherine Cline Wagoner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother David Wagoner of Kannapolis. He was a truck driver for 48 years. He drove for Thurston Motor Lines and Yellow Freight. He was a member and deacon at Elwood Lane Freewill Baptist Church. He was loved for his sense of humor. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kay Hinson Wagoner of the home. Daughter: Deborah Wagoner of Concord, Grandson: James Sims of Kannapolis, Granddaughter: Catherine Whitaker of Concord, Great-grandchildren: Jasmine and Kenzie Sims of Kannapolis. Sister: Sylvia Busque of Stony Point, NC. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday February 20, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis with Pastor David Parrish officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Elwood Lane Freewill Baptist Church 2114 Bertha Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.

Service: A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: A private burial will be held at a later date.
