Obituary: Boyce Jean Grayson Kincaid, age 85, was born January 28, 1930 to the late Xenophen Eugene and Lina Dwiggins Grayson. She came into the world fighting being born prematurely at 1.5 lbs. and not expected to live. She continued to be a fighter until Tuesday, November 3, 2015 when she went to be with loved ones gone before her. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl (Mickey) Kincaid in 2007; her oldest daughter, Carla Jean Kincaid Sloop in 1998; her brother, Hoyt Grayson; and two sisters, Faye Griggs and Dorothy Caton. B.J. was a 1948 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School having served as head cheerleader during that time. She married Mickey Kincaid on May 5, 1951 in Bremerton, WA where he was serving in the U.S. Army and lived there briefly before returning to Kannapolis. She was a stay-at-home mom working as a secretary with various insurance agencies until her retirement. Her greatest accomplishment was her family and making sure they all had what they needed and providing lots of "wants" through the years. Remembering countless beach trips and Christmases will keep her memory alive forever. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Revs. Kirk Tutterow and Don Shuman. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. The family will be at their respective residences the remainder of the time. Survivors include her daughter, Kim Cook (Tommy) of Concord, NC; granddaughters, Dana Sloop Hinson (Dean) of Rockwell, NC; Lauren Sloop Smith and Jenna Cook Baker (Andrew) of Kannapolis, NC; and grandson, Jared Matthew Cook (Jennifer) of Concord, NC; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Hinson, Jack and Paul Smith, and Kinsdan Cook; her sister, Phyllis Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Caremoor Retirement Center, Bayada Home Health, Hospice House, and all individuals that have assisted in the loving care of B.J. during her illness.
